Job Overview:
As an IT Maintenance Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of IT equipment within the organization. This includes hardware such as servers, workstations, networking devices, and other peripherals. Your role involves proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and collaboration with other IT teams to support a reliable and efficient IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Hardware Maintenance:
Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of IT hardware, including servers, desktops, laptops, printers, and networking equipment.
Perform hardware upgrades and replacements as necessary to ensure optimal performance.
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve hardware issues reported by users or identified through monitoring systems.
Collaborate with other IT teams to address complex hardware problems and implement effective solutions.
Preventive Maintenance:
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all IT equipment.
Execute regular maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, cooling system checks, and cable management.
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate records of IT equipment inventory, including serial numbers, configurations, and locations.
Coordinate with procurement to ensure an adequate supply of replacement parts and equipment.
Documentation:
Document maintenance procedures, equipment configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
Create and update documentation for hardware specifications and compatibility.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with IT support teams to provide timely resolution of hardware-related issues.
Work closely with vendors for warranty support, RMA processes, and equipment procurement.
Security Compliance:
Ensure that all hardware maintenance activities comply with security policies and procedures.
Implement security measures to protect physical access to sensitive IT equipment.
Emergency Response:
Respond promptly to hardware failures or critical incidents, participating in on-call rotations if required
Execute emergency procedures to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.
Qualifications and Skills:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Proven experience in IT hardware maintenance and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with a variety of IT equipment, including servers, desktops, laptops, networking devices, and peripherals.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or vendor-specific certifications are a plus.
